EVF supported Project Rainbow launched in Shimoga, brings eye screening to 65,000 children from government schools
EVF India is happy announce the formal launch of the project rainbow implemented by Sankara Eye Hospital, Shimoga by Shri V.P.Ikkeri, IAS, Deputy Commissioner,Shimoga yesterday at a well attended function at the Sankara Eye Hospital premises.
Shri B. Ramu, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayath, Shimoga also graced the occasion and later inaugurated screening event.
District level officer from the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Mr. Ganapati was present along with many officials from district administration,Zilla Panchayath,dept. of Education. A large number of members from the self help groups from the villages in the surroundings were invited for the launch event.
Formal launch was followed by an awareness session in the hospital premises and a symbolic screening event for about 48 children in a school near by Arakere village.
Most of the officials got their eye checked for the first time. Both DC and CEO shared their thoughts with personal anecdotes stressing the importance eye health and vision correction.
Introduction to the project was given by Dr. Kavita, heading the rainbow project and an introduction to EVF was made by Mr. Dharmaprasad Rai
Couple of saplings were planted to mark the occasion in the compound of school where the screening was held.
